Horse and Conservation Course Weekly Excursions

During your time at Off Beat game farm as a gap year project volunteer, you will have many opportunities to partake in the optional weekly excursions available within the local area. This is a great way to experience the local way of life and also benefit from your adventures in the African bush that will last a lifetime. South Africans are extremely friendly and you will enjoy the laidback lifestyle.

Extra excursions outside of the conservation course include:
  • Micro light flips over local Big 5 game reserves
  • A two-day trip including a sleep out, game drive and nature trails on a Big 5 private game reserve.
  • Boat cruises on the Blyde dam
  • Day trip to view the scenic Panorama Route and the second largest canyon in Africa
  • Day trips to view African wildlife at the Kruger National Park
  • African Tribal village
  • Reptile park tour
  • River rafting and tubing on the Blyde River
  • Water sports (boat rides/skiing/tubing) and swimming at Klaserie Dam
  • Abseiling and caving in the Drakensberg Mountains
  • African Wildlife endangered species Rehabilitation Centre
  • Lunches/suppers at our local restaurants and pubs
